Shot List
B-roll suggestions:
- Old personal photos if available (high school era, exchange student days)
- Quiet campus / Bloomington streets footage
- Rehearsal candids โ Rio conducting, Daix at the piano
- Maybe a clip of the two of them just talking off-camera or walking together

EDIT DIRECTION
Hook clip (0:00โ0:05): Pull the moment one of them says "We came to the States through the same visa โ the J1 โ at the same year" or Rio's line "America gave me the possibility to be myself." Something that immediately signals: this is personal.
Structure: More intimate, slower pacing than Reel 4. This one should feel like you're overhearing two friends talk, not watching an interview. Lean into the natural laughs and the "oh shit, same" energy.
Music bed: Something sparse and nostalgic โ minimal piano or ambient. Can pull from When It Blooms score audio if available, or use a soft piano bed. No Sakura this time โ save that association for Reel 4.
Text overlays:
"Both came to the US on a J1 exchange visa. Same year."โ timed to that revelation"Rio: now Music Director of BSO + Asst. Conductor, Charleston Symphony""Daix: composer, premiering her new work May 16""'I think we are more alike than we're different.' โ Daix"
Pacing: Let the pauses breathe. Don't cut too fast here. The emotion is in the stillness.
End card: Same concert info, but maybe add "Rio's last concert with BSO" โ it adds weight.
SCRIPT (~60โ75 sec)
[HOOK โ Rio or Daix, mid-conversation]"We came to the States through the same visa โ J1 โ at the same year. Both staying with host families. Both in a relatively rural area."
[Daix, quieter]"I remember โ I was like, oh shit. Someone else experienced this too. I'm not the only one."
[TEXT OVERLAY: "Both came to the US as exchange students. Same year. Different countries."]
[Daix]"I came to the States when I was 14. All my world views were just starting to form and all of a sudden I was thrown into this place I knew nothing about."
[Rio]"America gave me the possibility to be myself โ to open the door to music."
[Daix]"Meeting Rio really just made me feel less alone. And that's something I try to be more mindful of."
[NATURAL PAUSE / quiet music swell]
[Daix]"I think we are more alike than we're different. A lot of time we're already friends with someone without us even realizing โ the friendship had begun a long time ago."
[Rio, softer]"This is my last concert with the orchestra. Bittersweet."
[Daix]"When you're leaving those things behind โ I just see the cherry blossom tree again. Something so beautiful you won't be able to return to. But it's always a part of you."
[Rio]"The positive energy will stay in my life forever."
