Hook:
Every music school has the same three musician couple archetypes. Tell me which one you've seen.
ARCHETYPE 1: "The Dedication Couple" (2–10s)
First you got the composer dating a performer. They exclusively write music for their partner's instrument. Sounds pretty romantic and efficient use of resources, but the music is Wickedly hard and probably can't be played by anyone else.
Romantic… or is that just ownership with extra steps?
ARCHETYPE 2: "The Viola Section" (12–20s)
Second you got violist dating violist.
you ask why?
Cuz Nobody else in the orchestra even notices the viola section. So they found each other. Two people finally seen, finally heard — even if the rest of the ensemble still can't tell what they're playing, but they put a lot of romance and emotions into holding one single note during the entire rehearsal.
ARCHETYPE 3: "The Opposites" (20–30s)
and third you got the jazz student dating classical student. Opposites attract — but at what cost?
One thinks reading music exactly as written is the bare minimum of respect for the composer. The other thinks that's the ceiling.
One wants to improvise. The other wants to follow the score.
One is too uptight. One is too free. Neither will budge. Both are convinced they're the “real musician”
They are going to break up by jury season.
