🎀 Cute Composer Series: World Cancer Support Month — The Scores That Changed Everything 🎗️🎬🎶 Maurice Jarre (1924–2009) was the architect of some of cinema's most iconic musical landscapes — three Academy Awards across a career of over 150 film scores, all for collaborations with director David Lean: Lawrence of Arabia (1962), Doctor Zhivago (1965), and A Passage to India (1984) 🏆🎬 "Lara's Theme" from Doctor Zhivago became a global hit. The opening sweep of Lawrence of Arabia is one of the most recognizable moments in film history. He also scored Ghost, Dead Poets Society, The Year of Living Dangerously, Witness, and Gorillas in the Mist — films and melodies that shaped entire generations' emotional memories of cinema ✨ He was diagnosed with cancer in his later years and died March 28, 2009, aged 84, at his home in Malibu. His son is electronic music pioneer Jean-Michel Jarre. His music remains the DNA of Hollywood epic scoring to this day 🎼 D'Angelo (1974–2025) — born Michael D'Angelo Archer in Richmond, Virginia — was one of the most gifted and singular composer-performers of his generation: the architect of neo-soul, a pianist of jazz-level sophistication, a vocalist of devastating emotional range, and a perfectionist so committed to his vision that he released only three albums in 25 years — each one considered a masterpiece 🎹🔥 Brown Sugar (1995) announced a new voice. Voodoo (2000) redefined what R&B could be. Black Messiah (2014) returned after a 14-year silence with an album that landed like a thunderclap 🌩️ He had been battling pancreatic cancer — privately, away from the public eye — for some time before his death. He canceled a 2025 festival appearance citing "an unforeseen medical delay following surgery." His family announced his death on October 14, 2025 ❤️ He was 51. "We are eternally grateful," they said, "for the legacy of extraordinarily moving music he leaves behind." 👉 Which one's music do you want to explore more?
